Welcome to the web site of painter, sculptor and musician

This first page shows examples of paintings and welded steel sculpture that I've done in the past year or so; and links at the bottom of each page will take you to examples of some of my earlier work, a brief bio, some of my thoughts on art, a couple of reviews, and some other information that I hope you'll find interesting.

SOME EARLIER PAINTINGS "As with most artists today, I am very aware of the formal plastic elements in art. I have developed many aesthetic consistencies in my work even when at times it may seem diverse. But my art is always tied to expression. A common artistic thread in my work shows my interest in color, curved space, balance, rhythm, and movement. Ultimately, a painting or sculpture is only finished when all if its elements and relationships work to such an extent that it lives to the viewer.
"My work here has not so much to do with evolution, but with expansion and development of who I am as a person and an artist. That's why my last exhibition in New York was called "Driving Force" -- The force of who I am and what I want to be."
-- David Tobey, November '07
